Music video: Yasutaka Nakata featuring Charli XCX & Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Crazy crazy

Yasutaka Nakata featuring Charli XCX & Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Crazy crazy | Random J Pop

Whilst Toshiko is at home wondering if Wave runner was her P45, Yasutaka is out here launching a solo career, fresh off the back of phoning in albums for Perfume and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - two of his most notable clients.

"Crazy crazy" features UK pop star Charli XCX and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu who is barely on the song. It is fun and effervescent, but it's not much of an ear worm. It doesn't stick the way you'd expect a Charli XCX song featuring Pussy Pam with production from Yasutaka Nakata to. But it's still fun bop that you'll enjoy whilst it's on. Even if you won't remember it 10 minutes after. The video shares a similar fate as the song. Between Charli XCX and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu we could have gotten a great visual. But instead we get what is pretty much a lyric video with occasional titty close ups.

With Wave runner I felt it could have benefitted from featured artists. But it seems Yasutaka Nakata releasing music under his own name provides him and outlet to do this and keep Capsule separate as a...well a Capsule.

The prospect of such an album is potentially exciting, if it does reach into the corners of pop. It would be great to hear big names in pop feature on a Yasutaka Nakata production on both sides of the Atlantic. I've love for Yasutaka to team back up with Crystal Kay and then punk us as he did with his collabroation with Sheena Ringo, but managing to team up with Hikaru Utada.

I've long wanted Kylie Minogue and Yasutaka to collaborate on original material, following his amazing remix of her song "Get outta my way". Pretty much everything he produced circa 2010 sounded like it'd be perfect for Kylie.
